However, community pressure led her and her family especially her father to question her choice. After enrolling in the FYP, hauwa not only developed the required knowledge and skills on health and midwifery but also developed her learning and language skills, including improving her English. Now in her 2nd year, hauwa is excelling in her professional and personal life. During the holidays, she assists with the community health needs and consults on pregnancies. She has made everyone including her family and the village proud; the village head considers her a role model. At the end of the training, hauwa plans to return to her community as a health worker. Hauwa’s aspirations has caused a ripple effect in her community, they now understand the importance of health education.
